Marika Fleri

Marika Fleri has been practicing aromatherapy for the past 20 years in Malta focusing mainly on education, promoting safe use of oils through various media including TV, newspapers, magazines, workshops and social media.

She has worked in oncology and palliative care for seven years. Five years ago Marika has been appointed by The President of Malta as the Coordinator of The National Cancer Platform. The National Cancer Platform Association brings together all Maltese non-government organizations working in the field of cancer to collaborate together in order to ensure a holistic, co-ordinated and sustainable service for all cancer patients and their loved ones. She manned an office at Sir Anthony Mamo Oncology Center – Malta’s oncology hospital. This office offered the concept of a ‘one-stop shop for all Non-Government organizations within the platform’.

Marika was also the clinical aromatherapist in residence at the hospital. She worked with other professionals including psychologists, artists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, nurses and oncologists to offer a complementary and holistic approach to treatment.

Her main aim is to have as many tools at her disposal as possible to offer dignity, compassion, and comfort to her patients and clients whilst accompanying them through their journey.

She has left her role at the hospital earlier this year as she feels it is now time to spread her wings further and is now running AromHub together with Lorraine. Her aims, goals and mission remain the same.

Marika is a VTCT Tutor, Assessor and Internal Quality Assurer teaching Aromatherapy Diploma and Aromatherapy Higher Diploma.

She is also the founder of The Azure Butterfly Project. The Azure butterflies are a group of professional complementary therapists who voluntarily offer their services where it is most needed and where otherwise it would be very difficult for people to have access to therapists.

She has been researching and looking into ways to help people maintain a healthy lifestyle, bringing the body and psyche into balance thus preventing disease.

Marika has been invited to share her work and expertise internationally. She has shared her work in Brighton at Botanica 2018, AIA conference in Minneapolis USA and Royal Marsden Chelsea hospital amongst others.
